Boom Supersonic XB-1 Aircraft

Years in development, Boom Supersonic's XB-1 is finally ready for liftoff. The demonstrator — it's a 1:3 scale prototype of the company's end goal, the Overture supersonic commercial airliner — is set to take flight in 2021. Built for sustainability, it has high-efficiency intakes and three J85-15 engines from General Electric to propel the 71-foot craft to a max speed of Mach 2.2, making it capable of making the trip from New York to London in a scant three and a half hours.
