Despite their utilitarian history, there's no reason why the humble extension cord can't be beautifully designed. This thought helped launch Conway Electric, whose modern, braided extension cords helped them become the first company to make cloth covered wire achieving certification listing in the US and beyond. The line continues to grow and change the way we think about extension cords and has even seen Conway Electric expand their offerings to include lighting and power accessories. Our exclusive "black" model is the first in the product line to offer USB-C charging strong enough to power laptops.
Surge protectors and extension cords are ugly. Conway Electric decided to put an end to that by creating their series of Extō Smart Chip extension outlets. Taking things even further, we've released an exclusive blackout version of their 6-outlet, surge-protected Extō 720 and standard 2-outlet Extō model with the addition of up to 5AMPS of USB-C capability, powerful enough to charge laptops. In addition to their 3-prong tamper resistant outlets, each features a USB-C and a standard USB-A port that both automatically adjust to the charging speed best suited to the device, then shut off when the device is fully charged, preventing over-charging that leads to shortened battery life. Non-marking feet allow the units to sit on surfaces with minimal shifting, and self-tapping screw holes on the back of each unit allow for wall mounting. The 6-foot cord on both models is wrapped in braided cotton insulation and is rated to 13 amps, and the entire steel assembly is made in the USA.
The days of trying to hide the extension cord running to your home stereo with a plant are over. The Extō+4 extension cord and outlet from Conway Electric is more piece of art than simply a way to get power from point A to point B, making it something you'll actually want on display. The cotton cord is woven on 50-year-old machines from the Pacific Northwest and the full assembly is put together in Seattle from mostly domestic sources. A cast aluminum housing sits on non-slip, non-marking urethane feet so it won't move once in place, or it can be mounted to any surface with a couple screws. On the technical side, the Extō4 is comprised of 8 feet of 14-guage, 15 amps rated FT-2 flame test cord that's also impervious to oil and water, and a 1800 max watts rating. It also just so happens to be the only 4-outlet modular power source with internal tamper resistant barriers protecting the electric current from little objects, helping prevent shock. Available fully blacked out or in a somewhat more tame ACDC white and black duo.
This is not the type of pendant lighting you get at the local hardware or big box home store. The stainless steel pendant is sourced in the Midwest and powder coated, then added to Conway Electric's signature braided cloth cord with the addition of an in-line rocker switch for easy usage. It can be plugged directly in to a three-prong outlet or hardwired for more serious integrations. A standard medium base allows for bulbs, including LED, of up to 70 watts. With 12-feet of cord to play with, add it to the workshop to instantly have the most sophisticated and moveable lighting source to find tools or put extra light on a project. Available in solid black or ACDC white and a two-tone cord.
