Ben Smith built BuzzFeed News into a respected organization — not an easy task alongside the site's endless listicles. Ben Smith is now moving to The New York Times. This means his old Editor-in-Chief job is now open. Based in New York, the job entails leading a newsroom of roughly 150 people in offices around the world. In addition to the day-to-day of making editorial decisions, the new EIC will also meet with company leadership, help set business strategy during a particularly perilous time in the industry, and generally make the kinds of tough calls that provide the basis for excellent Aaron Sorkin-style television but migraines in real life.
