Distrikt Hotel
Housed in Pittsburgh's Salvation Army Building, the Distrikt Hotel transforms the 1924 landmark into modern boutique digs. The former chapel now serves as the lobby, retaining its historic character with stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and antique woodwork. Throughout its 10 floors, the 185 guest rooms and suites, including a 500 square-foot penthouse with a private terrace, leave behind their roots and take a more contemporary approach in both their design and amenities. As far as dining is concerned, the mezzanine supplies the morning essentials — coffee, juice, and pastries — while the converted gymnasium is serving a variety of farm and fisher to table fare.
