The Waterhouse at South Bund

Set along the Huangpu River, The Waterhouse at South Bund converts the former Japanese Army headquarters into boutique accommodations for Shanghai's Cool Docks district. The building retains its original concrete facade, while a Corten steel extension adds a fourth floor. Much of the structure's industrial roots are left exposed throughout the communal spaces, leaving the 19 guest rooms to take on a more modern aesthetic. The hotel is also host to a modern European restaurant, a bar in the lobby, and a rooftop terrace, serving food, cocktails, and expansive views of the Pudong skyline.
