Dyson CameraJet Toothbrush
Dyson built a toothbrush that watches your teeth while you brush. A 100,000-pixel camera scans 28 images per second, and an AI system called Gap Optical Targeting spots the gaps between teeth, firing a precision jet of mouthrinse into them within 100 milliseconds of detection. That jet uses a conical spray pattern rather than the sharp needle-type stream most water flossers rely on, a design Dyson spent years validating against a custom-made "proxy plaque" developed with the National University of Singapore's dental faculty. The mouthrinse tank uses an anti-gravity pump system that keeps firing evenly whether the brush is upright, angled, or flat, which matters most when reaching the back teeth. Brush heads use two bristle types, firmer ones for surface stains and softer ones along the gumline, moving at variable angles nearly 1,000 times a second to avoid stalling against tooth surfaces the way some competing brushes do. A companion app streams the camera's live feed in real time without recording or storing any images, letting you see your teeth the way a dentist would.
