Elton John's Cartier Crash Watch
Created by Jean-Jacques Cartier and designer Rupert Emmerson as a way to capture the zeitgeist of 1960s London, Cartier's Crash watch is desirable on its own. It's famous for its irregular 18k gold case, distorted Roman numerals, and highly limited nature (only 400 were produced in this 1991 production run). As such, they rarely appear at auction, and this one is made even more desirable by its provenance: it comes from the collection of Sir Elton John, making it a piece of both horological and musical memorabilia.
