Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar
Ferrari is returning to the top rung of Le Mans for the first time in 50 years. The Italian marque will enter the 2023 LMDh class with the 499P, a name that evokes the winning sports prototypes of the '60s and '70s, the 250P and 330P. The 499P uses an all-new carbon fiber monocoque chassis powered by a twin-turbo V6, derived from the 296GTB road car. An electric motor at the front axle works with the V6 to form an all-wheel-drive system, with a maximum of 670 horsepower from both units. Power for the electric motor comes from a 900v battery that recharges through regenerative braking. The 499P will make its competitive debut in the World Endurance Championship on March 17, 2023, at the 1000 Miles of Sebring.
