G-Shock MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire Watch

Casio spent years developing a gemstone G-Shock that could meet the brand's own shock-resistance standards, and the MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire is the first to manage it by assembling the case and bezel without screws, which can crack the stone. In its most expensive release yet, Casio builds the 43.2mm-wide case and bezel from separate blue sapphire pieces that interlock through kigumi, the Japanese joinery that holds timber together without nails, around a DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium core. The titanium caseback is set with a sapphire crystal and marked with its individual edition number, and the dial lettering is 24-karat gold. Casio assembles each watch by hand at its Yamagata factory, with only 20 made worldwide and six reserved for the U.S.
