Girard-Perregaux Opera II

Like the art form it's named for, the Girard-Perregaux Opera II is a grand production. One of the most complicated wristwatches ever made, it packs a tourbillon, minute repeater, and perpetual calendar into a solid platinum 42mm case. The hand-wound caliber GP9899 runs at 37 jewels. The cream dial opens at 6 for the tourbillon and between 8 and 10 to reveal the striking hammers, with sub-dials tracking the date, day, month, and leap year. Dauphine hands, applied white gold arrowhead indexes, and a sapphire exhibition caseback complete the composition. Engage the slide and the movement sequences through hours, quarters, and minutes on four spiral gongs, producing the Westminster carillon in full.
