Hennessy X.O x Frank Gehry 150th Anniversary Cognac
Makers of cognac for centuries, Hennessy is celebrating a standout in their line this year: the Hennessy X.O. X.O stands for "extra old" and the distinct spirit turns 150 this year. To pay it proper tribute, the brand turned to legendary architect Frank Gehry to design special packaging. Gehry says he was inspired by natural elements like the Charente River and Cognac soil that surround the Maison's estate in France which led to his melding of gold and glass for the compelling sculpture. The final result features a handcrafted cover that encases the X.O bottle's distinctive shape that is forged from 24-carat gold-dipped bronze and sits in a crystal glorifier to display it. Only 150 decanters were made, and all of them are packaged in a protective cardboard case that was created to pay tribute to the corrugated-cardboard furniture that Gehry designed in the 1970s.
