Icon Reformer 1970 Chevrolet Suburban SUV
Icon had one glaring hole in its extensive list of truck builds — the Chevrolet Suburban. This 1970 Suburban rectifies that oversight, with a spare-no-expense parts list and an aggressive look that's new for Icon. The build started with a fully independent Art Morrison chassis, giving the truck handling the original could only dream of. Icon went to NRE for the engine, a 427ci twin-turbo LS making 1,000 horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque that's docile enough to idle in traffic with the AC on. Brembo brakes and custom HRE wheels with Z-rated rubber put the power to ground, with shifting handled by a 4L85E automatic transmission. The $1.1 million build will debut at the "Icons of Design" showcase to benefit the GO Campaign charity in Van Nuys, California.
