Jean-Michel Basquiat's Now's the Time
A large-scale piece by the iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat is slated for auction. Titled Now's the Time, the seven-foot wide painting was created in 1985 and is a tribute to the artist's love of music. It features an image of a large vinyl press and is Basquiat's interpretation of Charlie Parker's 1945 composition Now's the Time. Created on roughly hewn plywood, the artwork has been in the possession of its current owner since March 1996 and will be sold as part of the Contemporary Evening Auction this May.
