1931年に発売された当時、「タイプ55」は地球上でもっとも最先端を行ったクルマであった。直列8気筒エンジン、過給モーター、前代未聞のアロイホイールで超軽量に仕上げた「タイプ55」はブガッティのタイプ45や47グランプリレースカーの公道仕様車だ。ここに登場したタイプ55はかなり初期に製造されたもので、ブガッティの歴史的に重要な一台と言えよう。
