The Nike Air Max 90 finds new ground in 2026, carrying its '90s running heritage from morning commutes to run clubs and weekends out. Originally released in 1990, the silhouette helped define the decade with its layered construction, exaggerated proportions, and visible Air cushioning before moving beyond the track and into everyday culture. More than three decades later, the formula remains largely unchanged. Its exposed Nike Air unit provides cushioning underfoot, while the rubber Waffle outsole delivers the traction and durability carried over from Nike's running heritage. Originally released in 1995, the Air Max 95 translated anatomy into footwear, with a midsole inspired by the spine, layered upper panels representing muscle fibers, and laces mimicking the ribs. The Air Max 95 Big Bubble Premium carries that unconventional design into the present with a mix of textile and synthetic leather reinforcing its signature wavy profile.
