Keurig Alta Coffee Maker
While convenient, Keurig's K-Cups are hardly the most environmentally friendly way to get a coffee fix. The result of a multi-year innovation initiative, the company is reimagining its single-serve system with the Alta. It works with new plastic-free, compostable pods called K-Rounds that use a plant-based coating instead of a disposable cup. The K-Rounds will come in different sizes for different types of drinks and have a code that's read by the Alta, which then adjusts the pressure and extraction profile as needed. The Alta will support both hot and cold brewing at high pressure for espresso-based drinks and low pressure for drip coffee and will begin beta testing as soon as fall 2024 before a wider release.
