La Playa Hotel

La Playa Hotel has a rich history. Located in Carmel-By-The-Sea, the mansion was built in 1905 by landscape painter Chris Jorgensen for chocolate heiress Angela Ghirardelli. After it was sold and converted into a hotel, the property hosted the Apple company retreat in 1983, where Steve Jobs unveiled the Macintosh computer. Fast forward to the present, and the 115-year-old Spanish Colonial estate is reopening after an extensive renovation. The update includes 75 rooms, a restaurant serving Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookies, and a bar named after the home's owner in the 1960s. Around the exterior, guests can roam the bohemian gardens and cool off in the pool, all while taking in views of the Pacific coastline.
