The Oculus Quest 2 is arguably the most convenient standalone VR headset around. It also means trusting Facebook with your data. Lynx is out to offer an alternative with its All-in-One Mixed Reality Headset. Powered by the Qualcomm XR2 platform, it offers a 90º FOV with 1600x 1600 90Hz displays for each eye and supports six degrees of freedom, hand-tracking, and color pass-through for augmented reality apps. It's compatible with SteamVR via OpenXR or CloudXR, offers support for the Unity3D SDK, and, perhaps most importantly, promises to respect your privacy with an open app ecosystem. Launching on Kickstarter in September 2021 with a planned sub-$1,000 price tag for February 2022 delivery.
