Marc Newson x Wind Vintage Green Hourglass
From Dutch vanitas paintings to the Wicked Witch's death countdown, the hourglass has always been a reminder that time runs out. Marc Newson just made a beautiful version of that sentiment. The designer behind the MoMA-collected Lockheed Lounge and the Apple Watch, Newson's HG Timepiece hourglass is among his most personal works: a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass containing millions of titanium nanoballs precisely 0.6mm in diameter. The unique green colorway is the result of a two-year collaboration between Newson and Wind Vintage's Eric Wind, who made numerous attempts to develop a uniform green through an innovative titanium heating process. Newson loved the result so much he ordered a 30-minute example for his own collection. Available in three timings: 5-minute, 10-minute, and 30-minute. Each a memento mori.
