Building on McIntosh's well-received MC2KW from 2005, the MC2.1KW is a 1-Channel Solid State Amplifier that's among the most impressive in the company's lineup. It's a three-box affair, with two power modules and a main output module. Whether working with balanced or unbalanced inputs, its hand-wound Autoformer ensures that the full 2,000 Watts of power can be delivered regardless of whether the connected speaker's impedance is 2, 4, or 8 Ohms. Power Guard technology keeps the amp from being overdriven, Sentry Monitor offers fuse-free short circuit protection, and a Quad Balanced design eliminates virtually all noise and distortion from the signal. All three modules feature the company's signature black glass front and blue illumination; the first 75 pairs sold in each country will include special 75th-anniversary badging.
