Mercedes-AMG SL Convertible
With a lineage that stretches back to the iconic "Gullwing" 300 SL, any new car to bear the SL name has high expectations. The all-new 2022 SL convertible is a clean-sheet design that shares nothing with Mercedes' current lineup, and ditches the retractable hardtop for a true fabric soft top — putting the "light" back in the SL nameplate. Two V8s will be available at launch: The SL55 with a 469 horsepower unit, and the SL63, using twin turbos to generate 577 horsepower. 0-60 times are 3.9 and and 3.6 seconds respectively, with top speeds of 183 and 195 MPH. A new chassis using aluminium, steel, magnesium and carbon fibre composites weighs less and is 50% stiffer than the outgoing model, and all-wheel drive is available for the first time in the SL lineup.
