Mercedes-Benz CLA Concept EV
Mercedes unveiled the Concept CLA-Class at the 2023 IAA Mobility show in Munich, a clean-sheet design built from the ground up as an electric vehicle. Most notably, the CLA-Class introduces a new design language for the entry-level Mercedes, with a prominent shark nose and undercut. Creases tighten up the overall lines for a marked departure from the current Mercedes lineup. The hood length speaks to the CLA-Class also being offered with ICE engines in addition to electric powertrains. Single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations will be available, although whether the ICE versions will stick with the current front-wheel-drive hasn't been confirmed. The CLA will use an 800-volt architecture with up to 400 miles of range, an impressive figure for current EVs. While it has "concept" in the name, Mercedes has already announced that the Concept CLA-Class will be entering production in 2024, along with being the basis for a wagon and two SUVs.
