Modena Automobili Project MA-01 Coupe
The Maserati Shamal was the flagship grand tourer from the marque, made from 1990 to 1996. Designed in collaboration with Marcello Gandini, with a significant portion of the car carried over from the previous Biturbo, with power coming from a newly developed twin-turbo V8. Modena Automobili's Project MA-01 aims to bring the Shamal into the modern era, with over 1,000 hours of design work to turn the GT into an Italian muscle car. The V8 will go in favor of a 500-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 and eight-speed transmission from the Maserati Ghibli S. The chassis will be strengthened in critical areas to improve rigidity and handling, with a target 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 177 MPH. Still under development, Modena Automobili is aiming for 33 examples with a starting price of $600,000.
