Nest makes a bunch of products, so it stands to reason that their Secure Alarm System isn't just a single monolithic box. Instead, it's comprised of the Guard, a base that provides the alarm, keypad and a motion sensor, Detect sensors that can be used to tell whether a door or window has been opened, detect motion, or in some situations, do both, and Tags that let you arm and disarm the alarm with a simple tap. As you'd expect, the system taps into the company's existing ecosystem of cameras and sensors, as well, and even expands it with the new IQ outdoor security cam. Next year it will grow further still with the introduction of the camera-laden Hello doorbell, yet while the number of products expands, they're all still controlled by the existing Nest app. As far as the Secure system is concerned, the base package includes a Guard unit, two Detect sensors, and two Tags, with the option to add more cameras, sensors, and tags as needed.
