Paolo Barilla's Porsche 911 GT3 Coupe
Paolo Barilla isn't your typical wealthy Porsche client. Barilla helped drive the Joest Racing Porsche 956 to victory at the 1985 24 Hours of Le Mans before a brief stint as an F1 driver with the Minardi team. Barilla was the first customer in Porsche's Sonderwunsch program to design a bespoke model, and chose a 911 GT3 in a livery that pays tribute to the Le Mans-winning 956. Director of Special Projects Grant Larson took the lead in transferring the 956's yellow, black, and white design to the new 911 GT3. But Larson didn't stop with the paint — the endplates on the 911 GT3's swan neck rear spoiler recall the race car, and special treadplates and embroidery on the interior commemorate Barilla's victory.
