Pappy Van Winkle Barrel-Fermented Cigar
Bourbon fans are quite familiar with the iconic image of Julian Van Winkle with a cigar in his mouth that adorns the brand's legendary bourbon bottles. So a partnership to make Pappy cigars made perfect sense. The merchandising arm of the Van Winkle family teamed up with Drew Estate in Nicaragua for this line of premium cigars made by hand in small batches. Each one is made using Kentucky seed and Kentucky grown tobacco that was fire-cured and then bourbon barrel-fermented. The blend includes a barrel-fermented "tapa negra"-style wrapper over a Mexican San Andres base wrapper, as well as aged Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. An impressive smoke on its own, it's also a perfect pairing with Van Winkle bourbon or rye whiskey.
