There are rare pieces of property, then there's Petre Island. The ten-acre, heart-shaped island sits in the middle of Lake Mahopac just north of New York City. Accommodations include not one, but two Frank Lloyd Wright structures. The first, built in 1950, is a small 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom guest cottage, while the other is a 4-bedroom main house finished in 2007. While the home was completed after the architect's death, it was designed by Wright and his signature style can be seen in the organic integration of the site's natural rock, built-in furniture, and multiple cantilever decks. Also included are a private beach, a tea house, dock, and a rooftop helipad to cut the commute into the city to just 15 minutes.
