QUAD Platina CDT CD Transport
When Philips and Sony launched the Compact Disc in 1982, they promoted it with the slogan "Perfect Sound Forever." Ninety years after its founding, QUAD is making good on that promise with the Platina CDT, the flagship CD transport that completes its top-tier Platina series alongside a matching integrated amplifier and network player. Where a standard CD player combines transport and DAC in one box, the Platina CDT separates them entirely, focusing solely on data retrieval and leaving conversion to an external DAC. This eliminates a primary source of electrical noise and distortion at the source, and a TCXO master clock on its own isolated power supply keeps timing errors and jitter out of the signal chain, with the motor, servo, decoder, and display all running on separate power rails. The 4.3-inch IPS LCD display matches its Platina siblings, optical and coaxial digital outputs connect to any DAC or amp with digital inputs, and a USB-A port adds hi-res file playback from external storage. Available in black or silver, from a company that has been building audio equipment in Cambridgeshire, England since 1936.
