The REETLE SmartInk I does exactly that, embedding a 3.97" e-Ink touchscreen into an iPhone case. In addition to serving as a traditional e-reader, it also offers one-tap voice capture, which then uses AI to automatically create transcriptions, summaries, and to-do lists. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi make syncing content from the phone effortless, and the package measures just 4mm thick, offers up to 10 hours of battery life, and supports MagSafe charging. It will be compatible with iPhones 14-17 and is expected to ship in February 2026.
