Rolex James Bond Submariner 6538 Watch

Legend has it that producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli loaned Sean Connery his Rolex Submariner 6538 to wear during the filming of Dr. No. However the watch came to be on James Bond's wrist, it immediately became synonymous with the character, and would appear in From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, as well. Considered the Holy Grail of vintage divers, it's notable for its 38mm case, oversized winding crown, lack of crown guards, and red triangle bezel insert. This particular example dates to 1957 and has a well-worn bezel and 2-line gilt dial with yellowed luminous markers in a faded black that's beginning to turn tropical. It will be auctioned off by Bob's Watches with bidding set to begin November 16.
