Rolex Submariner Big Crown Australian Military Explorer
The Rolex 5510 Big Crown is already amongst the most desirable Submariners, thanks to its James Bond connection. This particular example, dating to 1958 and issued to Australian military, is even more so. These Aussie Mil-Spec timepieces were the only Rolex 5510s with Explorer dials — see the 3, 6, and 9 Arabic numerals — and are exceedingly rare. If original, this example would be priced much higher. Instead, the bezel and red-triangle insert are original, but it has seen some slight modifications over the years — including drilled-off spring bars, repainted hands, and a relumed dial.
