Within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica Proper Hotel is the first luxury boutique to open in the west LA beach town in over a decade. Its 271 rooms and suites inhabit a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival that's been renovated with a contemporary eye. Warm, sandy hues are adorned with mid-century-inspired furnishings and artwork by local artists to create a calming refuge with expansive views of the coastal scenery. Its rooftop features the only indoor-outdoor pool and lounge in the neighborhood. Overlooking the ocean, the bistro serves dishes inspired by Mediterranean and Californian fare while the on-site restaurant and lobby lounge offer Latin-inspired seafood and small bites paired with small-batch mezcals. Guests can unwind with a therapeutic massage at the Surya Spa or take full advantage of the seaside locale and catch some waves with their in-house surfboard rental.
