Sealed Sweet Caporal Cigarette Carton with Possible T206 Baseball Cards

The most valuable sports card ever produced, the T206 Honus Wagner, was distributed primarily in Sweet Caporal cigarette packs between 1909 and 1911. Wagner demanded the American Tobacco Company pull his card almost as soon as production began. Whether over a moral objection to selling cigarettes to children or a dispute over compensation for his likeness, no one has ever settled the question, leaving fewer than 50 known examples in existence today. One recently sold at auction for $5.1 million. This factory-sealed carton of 12 Sweet Caporal packs from that same era carries a 1910 federal tax stamp and has never been opened. Whether any of the 12 packs contain cards, let alone a Wagner, is unknown.
