Seven Stars Kyushu Luxury Cruise Train

The most sought-after luxury rail journey in Asia is the Seven Stars in Kyushu. The name reflects both the seven prefectures of Kyushu the route threads through and the seven things the island is celebrated for: its railway, nature, hot springs, sacred sites, history, cuisine, and the warmth of its people. The exterior is a deep royal wine red with a gold Seven Stars emblem, panoramic windows on the first and seventh cars, and the names of each Kyushu prefecture engraved and gilded along the bodywork. Inside, 10 suites accommodate just 20 guests at a time, each finished with fine wood and handpicked textiles, a private shower, and air conditioning. The lounge car Blue Moon pairs live piano with panoramic stargazing windows and a bar; the salon car Jupiter hosts cultural workshops and activities; a dedicated tatami tea room offers a standing ceremony with freshly prepared tea. Journeys include stops at shrines, hot spring towns, mountain passes, and volcanic landscapes along the way. Access is by lottery only.
