Slate Truck
While some of us spend a lot of time in our vehicles, most of us don't need all the bells and whistles that make modern cars so expensive. Slate is out to change that with its all-electric single-cab truck. Or five-person SUV. Its customizable platform allows customers to build the car they want, with over 100 accessories available at the time of purchase or as you go, as needs change. There's no infotainment system — your phone or tablet serves that purpose — and audio is handled via Bluetooth. There are crank windows, actual A/C knobs, and a 1,400-pound payload rating, meaning it's not just cheap, but functional. Built in the USA, it's available for reservation now, with shipments slated to begin in 2026.
