Soho House Tokyo

Thirty years after Nick Jones opened the first Soho House in a London townhouse, the brand has made its Japanese debut. Tokyo suits it perfectly. Set across floors 11 through 14 of Mitsui Fudosan's Omotesando Grid Tower, a 38-story, 525-foot landmark in Minami-Aoyama steps from the tree-lined Omotesando, the 75,000-square-foot space fuses Soho House's signature maximalist style with meticulous Japanese craft. The reception desk is hand-finished in Kyoto lacquer by Makino Urushi, walls are clad in handmade washi paper by KAMISM, and a wooden spiral staircase connects the two main club floors on the 13th and 14th levels. The 42 bedrooms, each with a private balcony, sit on parquet floors echoing traditional tatami plank patterns, with bedside tables finished in Makino Urushi lacquer, upcycled vintage kimono fabrics, sakiori textiles, and marble bathrooms tiled in Nagoya stone. The 14th-floor club bar pairs a leather-clad top with onyx and Murano glass chandeliers, while the live Music Room wraps its walls and ceiling in green moiré. On the rooftop terrace, a 4,000-square-foot infinity pool lined with bespoke indigo and white Tajimi tiles from Gifu locks in uninterrupted views of Tokyo Tower and, on clear days, all the way to Mount Fuji.
