Stratolaunch Air-Launch Aircraft Platform
Purpose-built to take smaller aircraft and rockets into the air where it's easier (and far cheaper) to get to orbit, the Stratolaunch is the world's largest aircraft, with a payload capacity of 500,000 lbs and wings measuring 385 feet across -- and it's now for sale. Powered by six jet engines salvaged from Boeing 747s, the massive craft has flown only once in a two-hour test. The plane was backed by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, thus explaining the need for a sale. The price includes the intellectual property and facilities associated with the aircraft.
