SunUp Solar Backpack Concept

A collaboration between outdoor product designer Brad Brister and The North Face, the SunUp is a clever solar backpack concept. It provides a compromise between more efficient, highly-breakable rigid solar panels and low-efficiency, flexible film panels by breaking the rigid panels into an array of triangles. Interlinked conductive hinges keep the panels connected while allowing them to move freely as needed, mitigating breakage and optimizing energy generation. The resulting prototype is fully-functional and can charge an internal 4,000 mAh battery in 12 hours.
