The Enigma 555.55 Carat Black Diamond
Weighing in at 555.55 carats, The Enigma is currently the largest fancy black diamond in the world. It's a rare carbonado diamond, usually found in Brazil or the Central African Republic, and thought to be formed by interstellar gases and minerals found in meteors. Bought in the late 1990s, it began at over 800 carats and took over three years to complete. It now features 55 facets and is shaped like a Middle Eastern palm symbol, the Hamsa, said to deflect against the evil eye. Sotheby's is auctioning off The Enigma until February 9, 2022, and will accept a variety of cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, and USD Coin.
