Tower Optical Viewing Machines

Since 1933, Tower Optical has produced the iconic quarter-operated chrome binocular viewers that have framed generations of American sightseeing, from Niagara Falls and the Empire State Building to the Golden Gate Bridge, Gettysburg, and national park overlooks. Now, as the company's 2,000-machine fleet transitions to tap-to-pay, a handful of coin-era originals are leaving their posts for private ownership in small, numbered batches. Each 300-pound viewer is professionally refurbished at Tower Optical's original Norwalk, Connecticut shop, retaining its 10x optics, chrome-plated bronze housing, cast-iron pedestal, and coin-operated mechanism, or configured for free use. Select examples carry decades of documented history from the landmarks they once overlooked, accompanied by their original handwritten maintenance history card, provenance report, and a lifetime parts warranty. Release № 2 includes viewers retired from the Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, Gettysburg, and the Golden Gate Bridge. It's less a souvenir than a piece of American history brought home.
