Toyota GR86 Rally Legacy Concept
Will the World Rally Championship be returning to the US? The question hasn't been answered, Toyota is stoking the fires further with the GR86 Rally Legacy concept. The GR86 is a crossbreed between the GR Corolla and the GR86, combining the hatch's turbocharged three-cylinder AWD drivetrain with the GR86's svelte bodywork. The livery and lighting pod are pulled straight from the ST185 and ST205 Celica rally cars that got Toyota banned for the 1996 WRC season, thanks to an illegal restrictor plate hack. Toyota developed custom subframes and suspension parts to accomplish the drivetrain swap, giving fans a glimpse at what a modern-day Celica might look like — and hoping that a production model might make it to showrooms in the not-too-distant future. It's fun to dream.
