Tyde x BMW The Open Hydrofoil Yacht

Following up on their first collaboration, boatbuilder Tyde has teamed with BMW's Designworks studio on a new watercraft called The Open. The world's largest foiling motor yacht, it measures 48 feet long and nearly 15 feet wide — enough room to house a sleeping area, worktable, and bathroom below deck. Above it all, there's a two-person helm, a sheltered galley and seating area, a double subbed at the stern, and a lounging area at the bow. Powering the proceedings are a pair of electric engines, which work with the racing-inspired hydrofoils to offer a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising range of 50 nautical miles, all while using 80% less energy than a conventionally-powered craft. When idle, the full-surface solar roof keeps the batteries from draining while passengers enjoy the water.
