Unfinished 1997 Porsche 911 GT2 R
Not every vintage racer has to be in pristine condition. Currently unfinished, this 1997 Porsche 911 GT2 R serves as a blank canvas for its next owner. One of 10 GT2 Rs built that year, it was delivered to Dutch driver René Snel, who raced it until a crash in 1999 led to the chassis number being transferred to a new shell. Rebuilt, it was then campaigned by GT champion and Frikadelli Racing founder Klaus Abbelen. Its current owner acquired it in 2014 and set about rebuilding it; a task that was never completed. As such, it's being sold on its production number and without a chassis number, with an engine of unknown origin, as well as a spare set of BBS centre-locking wheels and myriad mechanical components and body panels. Restored to period specification, it would be eligible for entry in popular young-timer historic endurance races, with a feature set determined by the new owner.
