Venus Aerospace Stargazer M4 Hypersonic Aircraft
Ever since the Concorde was decommissioned, companies have sought to restore commercial hypersonic flight. Venus Aerospace is among them and wants to do so with its Stargazer M4 aircraft. The Stargazer is set to use a breakthrough engine system that combines a proprietary Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine (RDRE) with an air-breathing detonating ramjet known as the VDR2. This combo will allow it to take off from conventional runways and reach a cruising speed of Mach 4 at 110,000 feet, cutting travel times for long flights like Los Angeles to Tokyo to as little as two hours. The company recently completed a flight test of the RDRE and hopes to have passenger aircraft in the air by the 2030s.
