With advancements in technology, filmmakers today rely heavily on CGI to create the visual effects in their movies. In 1972, computer scientist Ed Catmull revolutionized the film industry with this groundbreaking rendering of his left hand. Pieces from A Computer Animated Hand was later used in the movie Futureworld and is one of the earliest examples of computer animation. Catmull later went on to found a little company called Pixar and currently hails as president of both Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
