Apollo 13's View Of The Moon
In 1970, Apollo 13's ill-fated mission to the Moon found astronauts Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise scrambling to make improvised fixes to their spacecraft after a malfunctioning oxygen tank forced them to abort their lunar landing. For the first time, NASA has used data from Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to reconstruct what the Apollo 13 crew saw as they orbited the Moon in order to slingshot themselves back to Earth.
