Chernobyl
In 1986, the worst nuclear disaster in human history occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Reactor No. 4 went into meltdown and exploded, blanketing the surrounding area with radioactive waste and causing a massive evacuation. The area is still off-limits and remains unoccupied today, over 30 years later. HBO's miniseries documents the disaster from the perspective of the plant workers, cleanup crew, and citizens who lived through the disaster. Chernobyl premieres May 2019 on HBO.
