Keep the wheel straight and smash the throttle — driving a car on a top speed run seems pretty straightforward. But it isn't. In 1997, Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green piloted the Thrust SSC into the record books, becoming the first vehicle to break the sound barrier on land.
