NASA at 60: How it Began
On July 29, 1958, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was founded by an act of Congress during the Eisenhower administration. In a unique move, NASA was established as a civilian agency outside of military control and was tasked with exploring space as a human, not military, endeavor. In this short documentary, NASA shows how it all began, from explosions on the launchpad to reaching out to the stars.
