In 1925, Nome, Alaska, was in the throes of a diphtheria epidemic. A call for help went out over the radio, and 20 mushers and 150 lead dogs made a relay run over 600 miles with medicine to save the town. Norwegian dog breeder and musher Leonhard Seppala and his lead dog Togo was chosen for the most difficult part of the trail, and this is their story.
